JUDGING GUIDE

Mission Statement:

To encourage the preservation and restoration of military vehicles of all eras and origins.

Purpose:

To award excellence in military vehicle restoration

Vehicle Judging:

  • Vehicles must have been owned, used or tested by a military to be entered in judging. No replica vehicles or vehicles that were not used, owned or tested by a military will be allowed to be entered in judging.
  • Vehicles will be judged against a standard and not against each other. It is the restoration of the vehicle and not the type of vehicle that is being judged.
  • Vehicles judged must obtain a certain percentage of total points to place in judging. Vehicles will not win just because they are the only one in the class.
  • It is the entrant's responsibility to verify the restoration of the vehicle. The entrant must document any variation from accepted standards. Example: A GPW marked as a Korean conflict vehicle may very well be accepted if the owner shows the vehicle was in use by the military during that period.
  • Pre-judging of the operating section of the judging form is the responsibility of the host Affiliate. Pre-judging must be done prior to the vehicle entering the convention and display area. Pre-judging will be done under the supervision of the chief judge. A vehicle that does not pass the operating section of the judging will not be judged further. The running judge will initial the top of the judging form to verify the pre-judging has been done. Non-motorized vehicles will not be pre-judged.

Judging Classes:

  • Restored Class: This class will be for vehicles that are restored to the "like new" appearance. Vehicles must be at least 20 years old to be entered in the Restored Class.
  • Motor Pool Class: This class will be for vehicles that are restored to the "in use" appearance of the vehicle after delivery and acceptance by the military. Correct modifications, replacement motors and installed accessories will not have points deducted if properly done to the era portrayed by the vehicle. There will be no vehicle age restriction in the Motor Pool Class.
  • Master Class: This class will be limited to vehicles that have previously won first place in the Restored Class.

Vehicle Awards Presented:

  • Restored Class: First, Second and Third Place award in each judged category.
  • Motor Pool Class: First Place award only in each judged class.
  • Master Class: First Place Award only
  • Best Vehicle Display: The award is granted for a vehicle DISPLAY, not simply the vehicle. This award will be granted based on the majority of the Judges.
  • Judges Choice Award: This award is decided by voting on the part of all judges at the meet as to the vehicle that, in their opinion, best represents the attainment of excellence in vehicle restoration.
